A New York man is lucky to be alive after spending more than 10 hours buried under 4 feet (1219 mm) of snow.

According to the New York State Police, 58 year old Kevin Kresen went off the side of the road during a recent snowstorm. While that’s bad enough, a snow plow came by and buried his car.

Kresen made a number of calls to 911 asking for assistance and officers responded. However, his car was buried under so much snow, they couldn’t locate it. Making matters even worse was the fact that the serpentine belt was broken, meaning Kresen was trapped without heat.

Thankfully, his luck changed the following morning as Sergeant Jason Cawley contacted Tioga County 911 to see if any emergency calls were pending from the snowstorm. He was informed about Kresen, so he started searching for him along State Route 17C in the town of Owego.

However, he was unsuccessful as the car was covered by the snow. Despite this, Cawley noticed “what appeared to be a row of mailboxes and waded through the snow to check the addresses.”

In a miraculous turn of events, Cawley hit the windshield of Kresen’s car while digging to check on the mailboxes. He then freed the man after being trapped in his car for more than ten hours. Following the rescue, Kresen was taken to the hospital to be treated for hypothermia and frostbite.

A number of companies are embracing electric vehicles and it appears Alpine could jump on the bandwagon.

In an interview with Automotive News Europe, Renault’s executive vice president of engineering suggested the company’s CMF-EV platform could be used to underpin high-performance electric vehicles from Alpine.

Details are limited, but Gilles Le Borgne confirmed Alpine is considering using the architecture. He also suggested Alpine EVs would have more powerful electric motors, but said it’s too early to talk about specifics.

The CMF-EV platform was developed with Nissan and will be used to underpin an assortment of upcoming electric vehicles including the production version of the Megane eVision concept.

The architecture was designed with flexibility in mind and it will reportedly be able to accommodate vehicles that measure between 157.5 inches (4,000 mm) and 185.0 inches (4,700 mm) long. To put that into perspective, the platform could underpin everything from the Zoe to the Megane.

The platform will reportedly be offered with three different battery packs that have capacities of 40 kWh, 60 kWh and 87 kWh. The mid-size battery is slated to allow for a range of 280 miles (450 km) in “mixed driving” or 186 miles (300 km) when traveling at highway speeds of 75 mph (120 km/h).

We’ll learn more next year, but Le Borgne suggested vehicles based on the architecture will be more expensive than their internal combustion counterparts as he doesn’t believe EVs will reach cost parity for at least another decade. That being said, battery prices are dropping and using the platform across the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance should help to reduce costs.

做為《Lancia Y10》後繼車款的《Lancia Ypsilon》早在1995年便已經問世,獨特的造型設計讓《Lancia Ypsilon》受到不少喜愛個性風格的買家青睞,而在2003年所推出的第二代《Lancia Ypsilon》過去也曾少量法雅國際國際引進台灣,而目前仍持續在義大利市場所販售的《Lancia Ypsilon》則是在2011年所推出的第三代產品。

雖然現行第三代《Lancia Ypsilon》問世已經有著將近10年的時間,不過隨著2017年FCA集團正式對外宣佈 《Lancia》將轉型為只在自家義大利市場販售新車的品牌,而在這樣的背景下品牌旗下其它車款也不再開發後繼產品,當時推出還不算太久的《Lancia Ypsilon》也成為了目前《Lancia》品牌旗下的唯一代表。

儘管如此,僅剩《Lancia Ypsilon》獨撐大樑的《Lancia》品牌在義大利市場仍然相當受到在地消費者的喜愛,不僅2019上半年僅靠單一產品便超越同集團《Alfa Romeo》品牌在歐洲市場的銷售表現,日前《Lancia》更宣佈在2020年前11個月《Lancia Ypsilon》成為了義大利市場上最暢銷的B級距產品,在所有乘用新車銷售方面也僅次於《Fiat Panda》,至今車系累計銷售更是達到了300萬輛的里程碑。

為了慶祝這樣難得的時刻,《Lancia》也趁機在社群網站舉辦邀請粉絲分享重要時刻照片並標記#YpsilonDreamers的活動,目前由名叫Giulia Carla Bassani的航空工程學生脫穎而出。雖然與市場上其它對手相比顯得勢單力薄,但是在原廠仍持續推出特別仕樣車同時推出電氣化動力下,或許《Lancia Ypsilon》在車壇還將繼續寫下難以替代的篇章。
