Gazoo Racing has announced that its Le Mans Hypercar will be unveiled on January 15.

Toyota has been working on the vehicle for some time now and in September, brought along a prototype to the Le Mans 24 Hours. The vehicle is based on Toyota’s successful TS050 LMP1 prototype and is currently known as the GR Super Sport, although it remains to be seen if that name will be retained for the finished item.

Gazoo Racing’s Twitter post confirms that the vehicle will pump out 680 PS, or 671 hp, in racing guise, the limit of all vehicles competing in the Le Mans Hypercar class. It is believed this powertrain will consist of a mid-mounted 2.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that operates alongside an electric motor.

Unlike Peugeot, which has decided against launching a road-going version of its racer, Toyota will build a minimum of 20 examples for the street. It’s difficult to know how different the road car will be from the race car but given the fact that it doesn’t need to meet racing regulations, it’s conceivable that the production model could be more powerful than the race car, potentially delivering the same 986 hp as the GR Super Sport concept from a few years ago.

Rumors have circulated online that the road car may feature three electric motors alongside its twin-turbo V6 and could pump out as much as 1,400 hp, a figure that would easily eclipse the Aston Martin Valkyrie and Mercedes-AMG One.


NIO has teased its flagship electric sedan that will be unveiled during NIO Day that’s scheduled to take place in Chengdu, China on January 9.

The image previews the sedan from the side, and if reports are to be believed, it will take inspiration from the NIO ET Preview concept that was unveiled in 2019.

Key design features are hard to discern in this darkened image but we can see that the sedan will feature narrow side windows and, in all likelihood, door handles that sit flush to the bodywork. A small bootlid lip spoiler is also visible, as is a small hump above the windshield which could be housing various automated-driving sensors.

According to InsideEVs, NIO has announced that the car will feature a massive 150 kWh battery pack. This is the largest yet to be fitted to a production passenger car and will reportedly give it a range of 600-800 km (370-500 miles). By comparison, the Tesla Model S Long Range has a 100 kWh battery pack and an EPA-rated range of 402 miles (647 km).

Since hitting the New York Stock Exchange, prices of NIO shares have skyrocketed from as low as $2.40 in March to $53.49 at the time of writing. Shares jumped almost 10 per cent after the company announced record deliveries on January 3. In December, NIO delivered 7,007 vehicles, a 121 percent improvement from December 2019.

國外的 Toyota Corolla,在入門車型上有 1.2T 渦輪動力的選項,也就是與 C-HR 同一顆引擎,不過在 Toyota 開發出 1.5 升三缸自然進氣引擎後,原廠準備讓 1.2T 逐漸退出市場,在 Corolla 搭載 1.5 升三缸引擎後,未來 Corolla 就不再搭載 1.2T 渦輪引擎,此舉是否會影響未來其他搭載 1.2T 引擎的車款,仍有待觀察。

Toyota 已在中國市場,將 Corolla 的 1.2T 渦輪動力,用最新的 1.5 三缸自然進氣引擎取代。

這顆 1.5 升三缸 Dynamic Force 引擎,擁有 121 匹的最大馬力,比 1.2T 渦輪的 116 匹略高,雖然是三缸引擎,不過也擁有 40% 熱效率、13:1 高壓縮比、缸內直噴、高速燃燒等與 Toyota 2.0Dynamic Force 引擎相同技術。

在油耗表現上,1.5 升三缸 Dynamic Force 引擎平均油耗可來到每公升可跑最高 19.6 公里的平均油耗,比起 1.2T 的每公升 17.86 公里還更為出色,在油耗及動力上可以達成更好的平衡點。

此 1.5 三缸自然進氣引擎,具備 40%熱效率、缸內直噴等技術。

Toyota 目前會先在中國的 Corolla 逐步停用 1.2T 渦輪引擎,並在今年正式停止 1.2T 渦輪引擎生產,其他地區包括歐洲等,目前仍繼續使用。

台灣的 Toyota 全車系,僅有 C-HR 是採用 1.2T 渦輪動力,目前不受影響。
