All cars have a life cycle, after which they are discontinued and, most of the times, replaced. In the case of these cars, though, some new examples still sold new in dealerships this past year despite having been axed.

Most of them, especially the ones discontinued within the last two years, are leftovers on dealer lots that wait for a buyer who, for whatever reason (great rebates, deals, etc.), decides to acquire them.

Sales figures were obtained from automotive sales and data statistics company GoodCarBadCar, and the following list will goes from most to least units sold.

1. Cadillac CTS

Cadillac sold 611 new units of the CTS this past year, despite being discontinued in 2019 and having been replaced by the CT5.

2. Lincoln MKT

We were very surprised to see Lincoln sell as many new MKTs as they did, given how most people feel about its appearance and failing to attract that many buyers. However, Lincoln somehow still managed to sell 329 new MKTs last year, despite the SUV being discontinued in 2019.

3. Buick LaCrosse

More: GM Extends CT6 And Impala Production Until January 2020, Drops Volt and LaCrosse

Buick sold 229 new LaCrosses last year, even though sedans are not that popular right now and the model was discontinued in 2019. However, its Chevy cousin, the Impala, is still on sale, but will meet the same fate this year.

4. Cadillac ATS

Like the CT5 and the CTS, the Cadillac CT4 replaced the ATS after 2019, but Cadillac somehow still managed to shift 115 new ATSs this past year.

5. Chevrolet Volt

The hybrid Chevy Volt, not to be confused with the all-electric Bolt, was discontinued in 2019, but Chevy sold 66 new ones in 2020.

6. Buick Cascada

The Cascada was discontinued in 2019, yet Buick delivered 12 new ones despite the public’s lack of interest towards the out-of-place convertible.

7. Chrysler 200

The short-lived 200 (it was introduced in 2011) was axed way back in 2016. Despite that, Chrysler sold nine new 200s this past year.

8. Dodge Dart

Riding on the same platform as the Chrysler 200, and discontinued the same year, Dodge nevertheless shifted five new Darts in 2020.

9. Dodge Viper

The Viper famously went out of production in 2017. Yet last year Dodge managed to sell four new units.

10. Jeep Patriot

Despite being replaced by a returning Compass after 2016, Jeep sold three new examples of the Patriot in 2020. Never did we think we’d see comparable sales between the Jeep Patriot and Dodge Viper, but here we are.

11. Honda CR-Z

Last but not least, we have the Honda’s small coupe/hatch that was axed in 2016. Still, in 2020, the automaker sold just a single model.


We’ve been waiting for Chinese automaker NIO to release their electric sedan for quite some time now, and now it’s finally here. The ET7, as it’s called, is here to take the fight to the likes of Tesla, and it looks like they might be able to pull it off.

In China, technically, pre-subsidy prices for the ET7 sedan start from 378,000 yuan (equal to $58,380 at today’s exchange rates), but that’s without the batteries, which is one of the most expensive components of the car. Much like cable providers, in this case, you’ll have to lease the equipment (aka the batteries) from the automaker. Alternatively, you can buy the ET7 with batteries for 448,000 yuan (about $69,200).

The sedan includes such standout features as a “heartbeat taillight”, a laminated glass roof, heated, ventilated, and massaging seats in both rows, a 23-speaker sound system, and a low drag coefficient of just 0.23.

The driving range for the standard 70-kWh battery pack is over 328 miles (500 km), 435 miles (700 km) for the 100-kWh battery pack, and with the newly-introduced 150-kWh battery pack, that increases to upwards of 621 miles (1,000 km). The vehicle is rated at 644 hp ( 653 PS / 480 kW) and 627 lb-ft (850Nm) of torque, and it accelerates from 0-60 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.9 seconds.

Founder William Li says the ET7 sedan can work with the company’s new autonomous driving system (available as a subscription for around $105 per month) that features a camera resolution of 8 megapixels—compared to Tesla’s 1.2 megapixels—and Nvidia processing chips that allegedly offer 7 times greater processing power greater than that of Tesla’s full self-driving computers. Li also noted the ET7 will be fitted with lidar sensors to allow the car to better perceive its surroundings. This same technology was previously dismissed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

The lidar sensor features a 1550 nanometer laser, a 120-degree field of view, and a range of up to 500 meters. The system can dynamically focus on objects of interest, allowing for the accurate detection of objects with millimetric precision. Finally, as part of the car’s 33 total sensing units, it also contains a 5mm wave radar, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and 2 high-precision positioning units.

NIO is also working on systems to enable the fastest battery swap service in the world, called Power Swap Station 2.0, allowing for a fully-automated swap in less 3 minutes. During this process, battery and system checks are also performed. The battery swap stations would also only take up a footprint of around 3 parking spaces, so as not to be too intrusive to the surrounding areas.

Each station can accommodate 13 batteries, and would be able to perform up to 312 swaps per day. Additionally, NIO’s vehicles will be able to automatically park themselves in the station, and the company expects its total number of deployed 2.0 stations to reach 500 by the end 2021.

Deliveries for the ET7 are set to begin in China the first quarter of 2022, and pre-orders are currently open for a price of around $772.

The car’s unveiling took place at the company’s annual Nio Day, and it’s revealed around the 2 hour and 3 minute mark in the video above with the specs mentioned right before.

Designer Leyang Bai has imagined a Ferrari for the world of the new video game Cyberpunk 2077. While most of the designs in the game are more retro, this one does the opposite, imagining a futuristic one.

Bai has a history of creating futuristic concept cars and this one is no different. Some of the other projects he’s worked on include the Audi Avenir, Nissan Fairlady 480Z, Infiniti Omakase, Lamborghini Speedster, BMW 2050 Flagship Concept, and Jeep Modular Concept. His latest design, called the FerRAR.exe, is supposed to pay tribute to the Ferrari 312 P Le Mans racer.

The FerRAR.exe is supposed to be all-electric, and some notable elements include the unique LED head and tail lights, partially-exposed suspension components, and directional wheels with a turbine-like design. One of the most notable features, however, are the car’s aggressive fenders. They seem to be more reminiscent of something like a Porsche 917 than any Ferrari, but they look so good that we can’t really complain.

While it’s highly unlikely that we’ll ever see the FerRAR.exe appear in the game, it would certainly make for a welcome addition to Cyberpunk’s car lineup.
