One of the supercars that caught petrolheads’ attention since it was launched last year is the McLaren 765LT, and while some aren’t convinced it’s more enjoyable to drive than its predecessor, the 675LT, it has proven itself to be extraordinarily quick.

YouTube channel DragTimes recently took a 765LT to the drag strip and recorded a quarter-mile time of 9.41 seconds with the standard Pirelli P Zero tires, not the stickier Trofeo Rs that McLaren also offers.

Eager to put their own 765LT to the test, Hennessey Performance recently headed out, pinned the throttle, and accelerated the supercar through to 204 mph (328 km/h). McLaren claims it has a top speed of 212 mph (341 km/h), so it’s not the peak speed hit in this video that’s interesting but rather how quickly the supercar hits that speed.

The driver takes things relatively easy when getting off the line, short-shifting through the first two gears until the car hits 60 mph (96 km/h) before starting to accelerate more aggressively. The 765LT sprints from 100 mph to 150 mph in what seems like no time at all.

Key to the hardcore McLaren’s insane straight-line performance is its 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that has been massaged to deliver 755 hp and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. In addition, the car has shorter gear ratios that result in 15 per cent quicker in-gear acceleration than the 720S.

 


Toyota’s current-gen 200 Series Land Cruiser is set to go out of production in the coming weeks after a 14-year run, and for North America, it won’t be returning – at least for the 2022MY.

Ever since that announcement was made, there has been speculation as to when a new Land Cruiser would arrive. Now, according to a report from CarAdvice, there’s a chance that the next generation of the famed off-roader could be unveiled on August 1st this year, which coincides with the model’s 70th anniversary.

The speculation seems to stem mainly from social media activity from the Land Cruiser’s former chief engineer, who has posted a series of countdown posts to the anniversary. However, it’s not clear if this is just a celebration of the event, or a hint about the unveiling of the new model.

After the shutdown of the factory that manufactures the Land Cruiser, it was said to undergo some changes before the new model arrived, a process expected to take months. Normally, Toyota showrooms would have built up enough stock to carry over until the new model’s arrival without interruption, but stronger-than-expected demand for the SUV has somewhat derailed that. The final models are expected to be delivered in April, which will create a blackout period until the new model arrives.

Based on that timing, there was some speculation the new Land Cruiser would be unveiled before the middle of the year. But now, given all the new information, an August unveiling would certainly make sense for reasons other than just an anniversary.

In the U.S., the Land Cruiser is only available with a one engine option, a 5.7-liter V8, but the next-generation model could reportedly be sold with a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 hybrid and a 3.3-liter turbodiesel amongst other options. The new model is also supposed to improve on the current one’s off-roading capability, despite allegedly using a modified version of the same platform.

從 86 與 BRZ 的前保桿設計比較中,可以發現兩者存在蠻多差異,新一代 86 使用各大面積的進氣格柵,並且採運動化的網格狀設計,兩側霧燈座與進氣孔也比 BRZ 更具侵略感,反觀 BRZ 的設計風格更圓潤。

另外下一代 Toyota 86 預計會改名為 GR 86,建構在 Subaru 改進版本的 SGP 平台上,採後輪驅動設定,車身尺碼達到 4,265x1,775x1,310mm,並且前側彎曲剛性提升 60%;扭轉剛性進步 50%,整體轉向操作的表現得到提升。

新一代 86 預計會在今年夏天正式發表。

動力配置方面也會和新一代 BRZ 相同,搭載 2.4 升自然進氣水平對臥引擎,能輸出 228 匹最大馬力與 25.4 公斤米最大扭力,馬力輸出比起上一代提升 28 匹,扭力部分也進步 15%,搭配有 6 速手排與 6 速手自排變速箱。

原本日媒《Creative Trend》掌握的消息指出,大改款 86 會在今年初的東京改裝車展上現身,但由於疫情的關係取消,預期要到今年夏天才會正式發表,並於秋天和新一代 BRZ 一同上市。
