不知道各位熱血性能車迷是否還記得,就在去(2020)年10月份,美國著名的SSC(Shelby SuperCars) North America超跑品牌曾經公開宣示,已經透過自家擁有1750hp最大馬力(搭配E85汽油所得;若使用91辛烷值汽油則降為1350hp最大馬力)的Tuatara Hypercar頂級超跑,以來回平均高達「508.73km/h極速」成績,打破全球最速量產車紀錄(必須採用道路街胎設定與非賽車燃料,並在該指定路段以極速衝刺來回行駛,然後再以分別兩趟的最高極速來平均所得成績)!

但就在公開該項成績的測試影片後,馬上就被外界拿來對照先前也曾有Koenigsegg Agera RS、於2017年11月份在同一路段衝刺出277.9 MPH(大約447 km/h)來回平均極速紀錄、成功奪下當時全球最速量產車寶座的測試影片!

結果,透過比對例如影片並不連續、GPS校準度、現場道路的標示/特徵、地圖圖資…等相關資訊後,外界不僅因此質疑該款SSC Tuatara並未能成功達到原廠所宣稱的來回平均高達「508.73km/h極速」成績,同時在測試現場也未有足夠分量的獨立單位來進行認證。

聽聞該項成績已受到外界質疑,SSC North America超跑品牌老闆Jerod Shelby也因此決定,將再次邀請夠分量的獨立/公正單位、媒體…等代表,準備進行再一次的破世界紀錄極速測試!

至於再一次重新進行測試認證的地點,則是由先前美國Nevada內華達州Las Vegas拉斯維加斯外圍State Route 160公路的長達7英里(大約11.27km)直線路段,更改為位於佛羅里達州甘迺迪太空中心(Kennedy Space Center)太空梭降落跑道區域的JBPG(Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds)(https://www.jbprovinggrounds.com/)測試場地。

這一次(2021/01/17),為了杜絕悠悠之口,該款SSC Tuatara測試車還特別搭載包含Racelogic、Life Racing、Garmin、IMRA(International Mile Racing Association)等眾多品牌的測試儀器。其中,Racelogic VBOX 3i 100Hz GNSS系統將會是主要測試/認證儀器(影像紀錄則是VBOX Video HD2),並交由Racelogic北美地區技術總監Jim Lau,親自安裝且認證所收集的測試數據,至於其他品牌儀器則是屬於對照組。

不過,負責這一次測試項目的車輛駕駛人,則並非上次的專業賽車手Oliver Webb,而是改由該款SSC Tuatara頂級超跑的實際擁有車主Dr. Larry Caplin來親自駕駛。

另外值得一提的是,不同於上次進行測試的State Route 160公路長達7英里(大約11.27km)直線路段,這次在佛羅里達州甘迺迪太空中心測試場地,則僅有上次大約三分之一長度的短短2.3英里(3.70 km)直線路段!也因此,負責這次測試的駕駛/車主Dr. Larry Caplin,也僅能運用短短大約1.9英里(大約3.06 km)的直線路段來進行全力加速衝刺,並得在剩下大約僅有短短的640公尺距離盡力煞停才行。

即便受限於測試場地的相關不足之處,但這次受測的SSC Tuatara頂級超跑則是採用drag race起跑模式、以全油門超增壓衝刺40~50秒(前次測試僅有20~25秒),並在第1次測試的北行路段、跑出279.7 MPH(大約450.1 km/h)極速!以及在第2次測試的南行路段、跑出286.1 MPH (大約460.4 km/h)極速成績!最終,則以高達282.9 MPH(大約455.3 km/h)的來回平均極速數據,順利打破先前的277.9 MPH全球最速量產車紀錄!

Citroen has launched two new versions of the Citroen C5 Aircross in Germany, named the Business Feel and Business Shine.

Based on the Life Pack spec, the C5 Aircross Business Feel starts at €28,240 ($34,299) including tax, undercutting the slightly smaller Volkswagen Tiguan, which is listed from €28,935 ($35,143) for the base grade, by almost €700 ($850).

Standard features include 18-inch ‘Swirl’ alloy wheels, ‘Silica Grey’ seat cover, two-zone climate control, navigation system, digital radio, reversing camera, blind spot assist, active emergency braking and front and rear parking sensors. Heated front seats, a heated windscreen and Citroen ConnectedCam are available as options.

The C5 Aircross Business Feel uses the PureTech 131 PS (129 HP / 96 kW) petrol engine, which returns 5.2 l/100 km (45.2 mpg US) on average.

At a starting price of €33,900 ($41,174), the C5 Aircross Business Shine is €1,000 ($1,215) shy of a new Audi Q3. This model adds full LED headlights and LED turn signals, thicker front side windows, different front seats, active cruise control, traffic sign recognition and keyless entry.

Options include part leather seats in grey or beige and the Business Package that brings heated front seats, all-weather tires, Grip Control with hill-descent assist, electric tailgate and panoramic sunroof.

Customers can choose between the PureTech 131 PS (129 HP / 96 kW) petrol engine and the BlueHDi 131 PS (129 HP / 96 kW) diesel, which has an average consumption of 4.1 l/100 km (57.4 mpg US) and emits 107 g/km of CO2. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

 

To those of us who are faithful Formula 1 viewers, Netflix’s Drive to Survive has become required watching. I suspect that’s also true of a number of people who aren’t F1 avid watchers, too. So what’s happening with the third season?

Formula 1 presenter Will Buxton has posted a new video to his channel explaining how the new season was filmed. Although his only involvement in the series is as an interviewee, he does have a lot of light to shed on the subject.

Netflix’s crew was up against the same difficulties as the rest of F1 and, indeed, the world for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately for viewers, that didn’t mean a halt to filming.

Buxton suspects that B-roll might suffer for the third season, saying some background shots could have to be recycled. He’s not concerned about that, though, because the people he knows on the show think this will be its best season yet.

The quality of shooting should be up to the series’ standards. Despite the pandemic not much changed for the crew filming the third season of Drive to Survive. Of course, the mic operators needed slightly longer booms, and the cameramen fancy lenses to help viewers feel just as involved in the action, but that’s pocket change to Netflix.

And the producers were able to plan in much the same way as the F1 teams, meaning that the filming crews were just as embedded this season as they were in the previous ones, if not more.

As to when the third season will air, Buxton doesn’t have an exact date but does suggest that it will likely drop at around the same time as last season. That would mean a late February-early March release, which would line up nicely with the start of F1’s pre-season testing, with the first session taking place between March 12-14 at the Bahrain International Circuit.
