When Mercedes first came out with the G500 4×4² for the SUV’s previous generation back in 2015, nobody was really expecting it. With its factory lift, extra-flared fenders, and portal axles, it was boasting some serious upgrades over the already-capable regular G-Wagen.

When the new G-Class arrived in 2018, there was no 4×4² version in sight. This however is about to change, as we’ve recently been seeing some videos of what could only be a new-gen 4×4², and this one of it testing in the snow only seems to solidify its return.

It’s worth noting that we had previously covered this winter test in photo form, but the video seems to give a better sense of it getting put through its paces.

Aside from the changes to the SUV’s appearance both inside and out, the main difference this new 4×4² should have over the old one is its suspension. As per the video, it will be using an independent setup in the front, compared to the solid axle the previous iteration had. As for the portal axles, it’s hard to tell from the video if they’ll be making a return, but we hope they do, since they were one of its most unique features.

The 2022 G-Class 4×4² should be powered by a twin-turbo V8, like its predecessor. However, there have been talks of it being marketed as an AMG, so it should be interesting to see how much power it will have.

A release date hasn’t been confirmed yet, but the new G-Class 4×4² is expected to make its debut before the end of the year.


Lancia is a shell of its former self, but the brand refuses to die as they have taken the wraps off the facelifted Ypsilon.

Looking instantly recognizable, the model features a revised grille with vertical accents and a more prominent satin chrome surround. It’s flanked by updated headlights with slender LED daytime running lights.

Additional changes are limited, but the Ypsilon adopts a ‘smiling’ lower air intake and a revised color palette. The latter features a new Elegant Blue option which is billed a reinterpretation of Lancia Blue.

The modest updates continue in the cabin as buyers will find a new 7-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. The model also features a newly standard cabin air filter that captures over 99% of allergens and reduces the proliferation of mold and bacteria by over 98%.

Under the hood, there’s a revised engine lineup that features lower emissions. The company didn’t say much about the changes, but there’s a 1.2-liter unit that produces 68 hp (51 kW / 69 PS) and 75 lb-ft (102 Nm) of torque. Customers can also opt for a 0.9-liter engine with 84 hp (62 kW / 85 PS) and 107 lb-ft (145 Nm) of torque.

Last but not least, there’s a hybrid powertrain that features a 1.0-liter three-cylinder petrol engine, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. It produces 69 hp (51 kW / 70 PS) and 68 lb-ft (92 Nm) of torque, which enables the Ypsilon to run from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 14.2 seconds.

Pricing starts at €15,100 and climbs to €16,700 for the Ypsilon Gold.

2021年2月1日深夜11時54分,一輛Mazda轎車在台南市安南區台江大道二段與工明二路附近發生嚴重車禍,相信99%的讀者都知道這憾事,車上3對年輕情侶共6人因頸錐斷裂、氣血胸等原因傷重不治,一場車禍帶走六條人命外加一條狗命,如果您急著想知道肇事二大主因,請直接從文章最後看起。

車禍引爆諸多討論

◎最嚴重與最具爭議的問題就是駕駛者沒有駕駛執照

◎車輛疑似超速行駛,該路段限速50km/h,但警方研判肇事車輛車速可能高達80~100km/h

◎車內共6人和一條狗明顯超載,問題當然不是多那1隻狗而是多1個人!

◎該車輛行駛於直線路段,怎麼會突然Spin甩尾失控?因此許多人質疑懸吊瑕疵、保養不當、機械故障、後輪爆胎…其實…Mazda是無辜的!

◎車輛失控後,撞擊工廠大門旁警衛室的小面積轉角處(水泥磚造結構),屬於無緩衝功能的剛性結構,且車輛撞擊位置為結構最脆弱的車側,加上車速過快,導致車體嚴重變形。

◎家屬質疑該路段之路面落差大,並牽扯橋接縫設計,導致車輛失控。其實不能完全推託於道路設計不佳,文後解釋!

◎家屬提出國賠,不過成立的機率渺茫,除非橋接縫有很大的裂隙、路面有很明顯的坑洞或破損、路面呈現垂直斷層落差(斜面不算)。然而經公家單位與媒體現場勘查,肇事現場皆無上述情事,因此國賠成立機率幾乎是零!

肇事二大原因  車速過快 + 後座負荷過重

在此並非抱持幸災樂禍的心態面對此次車禍,因為即便是駕駛技術高超且經驗豐富的有牌駕駛者,面對「車速過快+後座負荷過重」二大難題,可能也無法順利化解此一危機!

肇事地點位於台江大道的一座無名橋,此橋並非有規模的高架橋,並沒有很長的上坡與下坡路段,僅上橋與下橋有的輕微坡度起伏,即便是以80km/h的超速狀態行駛,通常沒有太大的疑慮,但是「車速過快」再加上「後座負荷過重」會怎樣?

答案就是肇事車輛開上橋面瞬間,車輛後懸吊已經有「觸底」的危機,車身動態已經呈現明顯的上下與左右晃動現象,到下橋之前都沒有停止,從後車行車記錄器所拍下的影片即可知曉。因版權問題,在此僅提供相關網址https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6PscQqpJiE,想追根究底的讀者可以從後方車輛的行車記錄器影片中一探究竟。

因車尾劇烈搖晃,即便駕駛者在甩尾失控前已察覺事態嚴重踩下煞車,但依然無法避免下橋瞬間「後懸吊觸底」整個車尾騰空彈起、後輪完全失去抓地力的憾事!後懸吊觸底之後,車尾會向哪飄?怎麼飄?決定權已經不在於駕駛,而是車身的慣性!

車尾負荷過重→上橋車速過快→後懸吊失去支撐與平衡性→車尾明顯上下與左右搖晃→下橋瞬間後懸吊觸底→車尾騰空彈起→車輛甩尾失控→撞擊工廠水泥磚造警衛室

整個情況大致上就是這樣,更恰巧的是~從肇事車輛在橋面上的動態來觀察(已經踩下煞車),車尾上下起伏的頻率,正好符合下橋瞬間後懸吊觸底所需的慣性!一切就是這麼剛好!

如何避免這場憾事?就駕駛者操作部分,如果在上橋瞬間,發覺車身下沉幅度與慣性過於劇烈,已超過懸吊安全負荷,上橋瞬間就該收油減速,此時或許還有一線生機,但這僅是「或許」,而且就算是換成賽車手來駕駛,也未必能化解這場失控危機全身而退!更何況是一位沒有駕照、開車經驗不是那麼豐富的駕駛?

如果車速慢一點,或許不會發生此一憾事;如果後座沒有坐四個人,也可能沒事!

能不能怪這座橋很危險?可能不行!因為路面並沒有破損、橋接縫並沒有被撐開,這樣的起伏算不算很危險?恐怕全台比這更危險的路段更多!不過這有很大的討論空間,在此只能說存在危險,但不能說非常危險。

最後,本文並非鑽研肇事原因,乃是要呼籲~就算不得已,發生了超載的違規情事,請減速慢行!喜歡開快車的捧油,請不要再多犯超載這一條,因為「超速+超載」真的、真的非常危險,而且致命!
