RM Sotheby’s has announced it will auction off seven desirable Porsche models from a single Swiss owner during its Open Roads auction kicking off on February 19 and being run online.

Bidding on the auction will kick off at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 19 and during the first day of the auction, vehicles available will be located in the UK and Europe, while the second day will be limited to cars based in North America. The third day of the auction will be restricted to the collection of the single Swiss owner.

The Swiss collection consists of a 2014 918 Spyder, a 2004 Carrera GT, a 2018 911 GT2 RS, a 2010 911 GT2 RS, a 1995 911 Turbo Cabriolet, a 2017 911 R and a 2010 911 Sport Classic.

No pre-auction estimates for the vehicles have been announced by RM Sotheby’s, but it’s reasonable to assume that the 918 Spyder will be the most expensive. It has just one previous owner and has been driven a touch under 5,500 km (3,400 miles). Making it stand out is Porsche’s Liquid Chrome Blue Metallic paintwork that was a $63,000 option. It also has a Mocha Brown leather interior with silver accents, making it one of just three 918 Spyders built in this configuration.

The 2018 911 GT2 RS being auctioned off is also particularly attractive thanks to the Azzuro California Metallic paint. The fixed rear wing has also been removed, making it look a little more subtle. And then, of course, there’s the Carrera GT, one of the last analogue supercars ever made.

Electrify America is installing 30 solar-powered EV charging stations throughout central California. Each charging station features two charging ports.

The chargers are specifically being placed inland to provide greater access to charging infrastructure in rural parts of the state, while more than half are located in disadvantaged and low income communities, and they are all available to the public free of charge.

“Electrify America’s mission centers around increasing access to electric vehicle charging infrastructure to meet the differing needs of drivers across a diverse set of communities and lifestyles,” said Nina Huesgen, senior manager, home, and eCommerce at Electrify America. “We believe adding renewable energy to our offerings and expanding access to public charging in rural communities will help continue to spur EV adoption in the state.”

Healthcare facilities were selected as the location for two-thirds of the off-grid charging stations thanks to input from public and private stakeholders. Together, they decided that health and education institutions were the ideal locations thanks to their high traffic and long operating hours.

Electric vehicles that pull up to the stations will be served by level 2 chargers. Although they aren’t “fast-charge” ones, the 240-volt chargers are the same kind that you can plug into your dryer at home for reasonably speedy charging.

Electrify America was set up by Volkswagen as part of its Dieselgate settlement with the US government. Run independently of Volkswagen, the charging network serves most EVs, apart from Teslas.

Electrify America solar chargers are available to the public free of charge at the following locations:

It’s a sad day for fans of fast Audis and envelope-pushing builds everywhere. The Eventuri Project RS3 has gone up in flames while filming, bringing a close to a project that started back in 2019.

If you’re unfamiliar, Eventuri is an aftermarket air intake manufacturer based out of the UK. Their RS3 was reported to have 800-850 hp, depending on the map. The Eventuri team had gone all-out with the build. The forged engine by Race Developments featured an Iroz Motorsport IMS850 Turbo, and the car ran an AEM methanol injection system in conjunction with E85 fuel.

In December 2020, the Eventuri RS3 took the Carwow drag-race crown, becoming the fastest car featured in a drag race. It was also the first to record a quarter-mile time under ten seconds in a Carwow video. Earlier that year, the tuned Audi was proclaimed the fastest RS3 in the UK, having achieved a top speed of 211 mph at last year’s VMAX200 event

Unfortunately, as reported on Eveturi’s official social media pages, the car met its demise, going up in flames at the roadside. While, thankfully, no one was injured, there was nothing that could be done to save the car before the fire took hold. The precise cause of the fire, which originated in the engine bay, is as yet unknown.

Had a fire suppression system been installed under the hood, the RS3 might have been saved — a painful point acknowledged in Eventuri’s post. And while they vow to come back stronger, there’s no getting away that losing a project car, especially one that has had close to two years’ worth of effort put into it, is sad.
