When Volkswagen unveiled the 2021 ID.4 in September, the company estimated the model would have 250 miles (403 km) of range.

That estimate has panned out as the EPA says the ID.4 1st Edition and ID.4 Pro will be able to travel 250 miles (403 km) on a single charge.

As a refresher, the ID.4 Pro starts at $39,995 and has an 82 kWh battery pack.  It powers a rear-mounted electric motor that develops 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) and 228 lb-ft (309 Nm) of torque.

The ID.4 1st Edition has the same powertrain, but costs $43,995 and is better equipped. This version will be the first to arrive in the United States and it features a handful of special touches such as Electric White accents as well as brake and accelerator pedals with pause and play logos.

While 250 miles (403 km) of range doesn’t sound too impressive, it’s pretty competitive for segment. The rear-wheel drive Ford Mustang Mach-E Standard Range has an EPA-estimated range of 230 miles (370 km), while the Extended Range variant increases that figure to 300 miles (383 km).

Other competitors include the 239 mile (385 km) Kia Niro EV and the Tesla Model Y Dual Motor AWD which has an EPA-estimated range of 326 miles (525 km).

The ID.4 is also one of the most affordable electric crossovers as it undercuts the Mustang Mach-E by $2,900. It’s also significantly more affordable than the Model Y, but it’s not an apples-to-apples comparison as the all-wheel drive ID.4 wouldn’t arrive until later next year. Furthermore, the Kia Niro EV is slightly cheaper as pricing starts at $39,090.

Elon Musk spoke again about the possibility of Tesla offering a smaller EV to slot below the Model 3 with a particular focus in the European market.

“Possibly in Europe, it would make sense to do, I guess, a compact car, perhaps a hatchback or something like that,” Musk said during an online conference on batteries hosted by the German government.

“In the U.S., the cars tend to be bigger for personal taste reasons,” Musk added. “In Europe, they tend to be smaller.”

This isn’t the first time Musk talked about a more affordable Tesla. Back in September and during the carmaker’s ‘Battery Day’ event, he said that a new entry-level $25,000 model will make use of their new ‘tabless’ battery cells and that it could hit the market in roughly three years.

During the online battery conference in Germany, Musk talked about his problems parking a Model X in Berlin. “I was driving a Model X around Berlin and we had quite a bit of trouble finding a parking space where we could fit,” he said.

“That (a hatchback) would probably be a good candidate for an original design. I’m sure there will be other (design proposals) as well. But (a hatchback) might be the wise place to start”, Tesla’s CEO added.

Offering a more compact electric vehicle than the Model 3 certainly makes sense for Tesla, and could help the company achieve their aim of producing 20 million vehicles per year in the “long-term”. While smaller cars may not be that appealing to North American consumers, they are much more popular in the rest of the world.

進入車內,歐規2021年式《Toyota Camry》跟隨美規車型腳步換上了辨識與操作更為輕鬆的懸浮式9吋觸控螢幕資訊系統,新增了實體按鍵、旋鈕的設計也更方便在車輛行駛時進行功能操作,當然也能夠支援時下流行的Apple CarPlay與Android Auto功能。除此之外,歐規2021年式《Toyota Camry》同時也針對車內飾板、皮椅樣式進行了調整讓車室質感更為精進。

另一方面,歐規2021年式《Toyota Camry》也將搭載最新版本的Toyota Safety Sense安全科技,除了針對行車、自行車辨識進行優化,同時還增添了包括緊急轉向輔助、交叉路口轉向輔助、全速域主動巡航等多項功能讓行車安全防護更為完善。根據《Toyota》原廠的規劃2021年式《Toyota Camry》預計將於2020年秋天起在西歐各主要市場陸續展開販售。
