Tesla has increased pricing for the Model S and Model X across Europe, though the rates vary based on market. Still, the price bumps are quite significant, especially in markets such as Germany where the entry-level Model S now costs €81,990 ($97,700).

Before the price update, it retailed for €76,990, so that’s a difference of €5,000 ($6,000), which is a lot, regardless of where you’re from. Similar differences now exist in France and the UK, reports Reuters.

To put things into perspective, the Model S is priced from $67,920 in the United States, following Tesla’s recent back-to-back price cuts.

Meanwhile, price changes in other European countries were less extensive, with the Model S costing just €2,000 more in Spain than before. According to Electrek, these price hikes apply to Tesla’s next batch of Model S and Model X vehicles, which won’t be delivered until March of 2021.

This could also be connected to Tesla’s rumored plans for a refresh involving both EVs, which could follow next year’s debut of the Model S Plaid, featuring a new structural battery pack design. The Model S and Model X are also in line to receive an interior refresh next year, but nothing is certain at this point.

We should also note that price bumps within Tesla’s European configurators don’t apply to just the S and X, but also the Model 3, reportedly. However, the latter only costs more by about €500 to €1,000 on average.


Renault has outlined its plan to convert the Flins car factory into a recycling and research center that will target a negative CO2 balance by 2030.

The Flins plant is currently producing the electric Renault Zoe and will continue to do so until 2024, when the facility’s transformation will be completed.

Renault calls it the “RE-FACTORY”, describing it as the first European circular economy site dedicated to mobility. The French carmaker aims to employ more than 3,000 people there by 2030, with the facility revamp to gradually take place between 2021 and 2024.

“RE-FACTORY will enable the Group to respond to the challenges facing mobility and automotive industry players today – and even more so tomorrow. This plant, with an objective of a negative CO2 balance by 2030, is fully in line with the Group’s global strategy by combining circular economy, reduction of emissions, development of skills and the creation of new value-generating activities,” said Renault’s CEO Luca de Meo.

Renault’s Re-Factory will involve a large network of different partners and will be structured around four activity centers: RE-TROFIT, which will be responsible for reconditioning used vehicles and the conversion of ICE-powered vehicles to other less carbon-based energies, RE-ENERGY, which will develop the potential arising from electric batteries, RE-CYCLE, which will integrate the company’s growing share of recycled or reused materials, and RE-START, which will develop industrial know-how and accelerate research and innovation in the circular economy.

Volvo汽車對安全的重視與努力向來不落人後,自1970年成立交通事故調研小組,至今正好成立半世紀。交通事故調研小組透過調查汽車事故,蒐集現場資訊並分析,還原事故發生的前、中、後過程,再將研究結果分享給新車設計研發團隊,進而優化新車安全性。

如今Volvo更從車輛安全配備、科技及車輛結構等硬體層面,擴大至救援人員訓練層面。Volvo汽車以起重機將數輛全新車款吊高至30公尺高,再以自由落體模擬單一車型的嚴重事故,提供救援人員如何以最安全、快速的方式讓車內傷者脫困送醫。

Volvo 原廠與瑞典官方救援部門有著緊密合作關係,不僅提供安全中心撞擊測試的車款讓救援人員得以模擬事故練習救援,也將撞擊測試結果與救援工作流程統整為研究報告,分享給各地的救援團隊,進一步強化救援能力,在搶救生命的寶貴時間中奪得先機。

Volvo交通事故調研小組自1970年在瑞典哥德堡開始運作,只要接到附近有事故發生的通知,不論白天黑夜都會迅速抵達現場,盡可能蒐集事故發生的蛛絲馬跡,透過研究分析建立數據資料庫,進而分享給新車研發團隊,讓 Volvo 汽車在安全領域上,始終以領導者的角色引領車壇。而在事故救援研究上,Volvo亦提供安全中心撞擊測試後的車款讓救援人員模擬事故練習救援,並將撞擊測試結果與救援工作流程統整為研究報告,分享給各地的救援團隊,進一步強化救援能力。

交通事故調研小組會完整記錄事故車輛本身撞擊的力量與角度、主動安全系統干預的時間、車上乘員的保護與受傷程度、事故當下天氣、時間與周邊道路標記等,與警方公開的調查報告交叉比對;同時也會有Volvo汽車安全中心的行為科學家與駕駛員聯絡,進一步瞭解事故發生的過程,向傷者申請分享病歷,記錄傷害情況,再由生物力學家與物理學家進行分析,以瞭解造成傷害的確切原因。而所有蒐集的資訊都將收納為資料庫中的大數據,並與Volvo新車研發團隊共享,確保Volvo汽車始終處於開發安全功能的頂尖車廠。

Volvo汽車安全中心的負責人Malin Ekholm表示:事故本身是令人悲傷的,我們要做的事就是讓悲慘的代價能夠換來有助益的結果,交通事故調研小組努力研究,透過分析事故發生時每個階段的細節,例如駕駛的反應、車輛的回饋、安全機制的作動等等,將各項資訊與數據統整後改進汽車設計與研發,「更安全的汽車」就此誕生。

Volvo交通事故調研小組每年約調查30至50起不等的事故,即便發生在全球各地,只要情況允許,交通事故調研小組也會委請當地的Volvo同仁協助溝通瞭解。最重要的是,團隊也會使用全球公開的公共事故數據庫作為參考。

而這些撞擊測試過後的車款亦會提供瑞典緊急救援團隊模擬事故練習,利用這些經過正面、側面、偏位撞擊及翻滾等不同的測試車輛所造成不同情況的車損,學習如何以更有效率的方式破壞車體,把握黃金救援一小時的時間內將傷者迅速送醫。

Volvo汽車交通事故研究團對的資深研究員Håkan Gustafson表示:多年來,我們一直與瑞典救援部門緊密合作,因為我們共同的目標是為所有人提供安全。沒有人希望嚴重事故的發生,但並非所有事故都能避免,因此當嚴重事故發生時,能有更多、更有效率、更安全的方法拯救生命就顯得至關重要。

對救援人員來說,不斷更新對新車型結構與鋼材的瞭解並優化救援流程、甚至是開發全新的救援技術亦是非常重要的一環,這些培訓課程意味著生與死的差異。因此,在救援部門的請求下,Volvo 汽車決定給予救援團隊更大的挑戰。

Håkan Gustafson 說道:通常我們只會在實驗室撞擊汽車,現在我們是第一次用起重機讓車輛從高空墜落,這意謂著車輛會受到更強烈的撞擊力道產生更極端的變形。

Volvo的工程師們將10輛不同型號的全新車款用起重機吊高至30公尺,再測試前對車損狀態進行精算,確保車輛能受到預期所需的損壞,這遠比實驗室中的撞擊測試要來得嚴重許多,此一嚴苛的模擬條件對應超高速的單車事故、汽車與卡車質量不同的高速事故與車輛側面嚴重撞擊的事故等,讓救援人員能有機會充分練習極端事故下的車損狀況,進而強化救援能力,而此一撞擊模擬與救援工作也將匯整為報告,並免費提供各地救援人員進修,讓搶救生命的專業技術能更加精進。
