Hot on the heels of the unveiling of the track-focused Lamborghini Huracan STO, the carmaker has teamed up with Swiss watchmaker Roger Dubuis to launch a limited-edition timepiece inspired by the hardcore supercar.

Dubbed the Excalibur Spider Huracan STO, the timepiece has been displayed with the same Blue Laufey and California Orange color combination as the Huracan STO show car.

The Excalibur Spider Huracan STO features a 45 mm skeletonized carbon case with rubber inlays topped with a titanium bezel and metallicized sapphire crystal, while the strap has perforated calfskin leather and a rubber interior liner.

The Excalibur is powered by an automatic RD630 caliber that provides a power reserve of up to 60 hours. The movement combines a 12-degree angled balance wheel with a 360-degre oscillating weight inspired by the wheels of the Huracan STO.

Interestingly, whereas Lamborghini hasn’t committed to capping production of the Huracan STO, Roger Dubuis has confirmed that just 88 examples of the Excalibur Spider Huracan STO will be produced, with a retail price $56,500. That’s an eye-watering figure, especially when you consider the car itself starts from $327,838 in the United States – but then again, Roger Dubuis’ watches have always been luxury items and priced accordingly.

As for the supercar that inspired the timepiece, the STO is the most hardcore variant of the Huracan and is powered by a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 churning out 631 hp and 417 lb-ft (565 Nm) of torque. Unlike most other variants, the STO is rear-wheel drive and is 43 kg (95 lbs) lighter than the Performante.

Volkswagen chief executive Herbert Diess expects to see fully self-driving cars on public roads anywhere between 2025 and 2030.

According to Reuters, Diess recently told Wirtschaftswoche that improvements in computer chips and advancements in the area of artificial intelligence are speeding up the development of autonomous driving technologies.

“It is foreseeable that the systems will soon be able to master even the complex situations of autonomous driving,” he stated.

Diess took over VW in 2015, arriving from BMW in the wake of the former’s diesel scandal. VW will be investing a massive 73 billion euros ($87 billion) into future electric and connected technologies.

This investment also includes building up the group’s new Car.Software organization, whose goal is to create a proprietary software stack, which then Audi’s Artemis project will embed into advanced, self-driving vehicles.

According to Diess, VW is now a global leader in terms of its electric platforms and broad range of EVs, and in the coming years it will aim to reach “a leading position in car software in order to meet people’s needs for individual, sustainable and fully connected mobility in the future. To that end, we have doubled our digitalization spend.”

Within the next 10 years, VW believes it will produce some 26 million fully electric vehicles for Europe, China and the United States, 19 million of which will be based on the MEB architecture, and the other 7 million on the high-performance PPE platform.

OKCU Individual Automotive Concepts have just unveiled their latest Mercedes-Benz V-Class project that’s dubbed the ‘Artisan Edition.’

In creating this bespoke V-Class, the tuner started out by stripping back the standard interior and installing a new Bang & Olufsen sound system complete with Apple Airplay streaming and wireless phone charging.

Next, OKCU has adorned the seats with “Rolls-Royce quality” leather that, in these press photos at least, certainly looks rather plush. Complementing the white leather is dark blue piping and dark blue seatbelts, while sitting in between both rows of seats are large consoles that house the various seat adjustment switches. One of these consoles houses a small iPad and another a small espresso pod machine to make the perfect coffee while on the go. Also found within one of the consoles is a special cigar holder made from wood.

A plethora of other interior components are made from high-quality wood, including the scuff plates and areas along the doors. Further adding to the luxurious feel of this customized Mercedes-Benz V-Class are various control switches, including the Bang & Olufsen audio controller, finished in 24 carat rose gold trim, as well as a Rolls-Royce-inspired starlight headliner.

OKCU says all key interior operations can be controlled through the iPad of through voice commands. This includes the partition wall screen divider, side tables, leg rests, seat massage functions, and more. Other key features include a mini bar, champagne cooler, and a large TV screen.

Rounding out the modifications made by OKCU are custom front and rear bumpers.
