Mercedes-Benz has kicked off winter testing of their upcoming EQS dedicated electric SUV with the prototype spotted in Scandinavia. Somewhat confusingly, Stuttgart is using the same model series name (see the official teaser video here) for the sedan and SUV versions of both the range-topping EQS and the mid-size EQE, though that might change by the time they hit the market in 2022. [Updated 12/12/2022]

Dressed in heavy camouflage, the SUV version of the EQS has a fully enclosed grille which is flanked by sweptback headlights. Additional details are hard to make out, but the model has a small air intake and a rakish windscreen that flows into a gently sloping roof.

We can also see a rounded shoulder line, flush-mounted door handles and what appears to be a charging port on the front fender. Other notable features include a relatively small greenhouse and an angular rear window. The model also has a prominent rear spoiler and what appears to be faux exhaust cut outs.

Moving into the cabin, we can see a free-standing digital instrument cluster and an infotainment system that rises out of the center console like on the redesigned S-Class. There are also turbine-style air vents, metallic trim and a familiar steering wheel.

While Mercedes recently teased the crossover, the company didn’t say much about it. However, it will be based on the company’s new electric vehicle platform and could have a range of up to 435 miles (700 km).

Performance specifications remain a mystery, but the sedan version of the EQS is rumored to have outputs ranging from approximately 395 hp (294 kW / 400 PS) to more than 592 hp (441 kW / 600 PS). Those specs will likely carryover to the EQS SUV, but we’ll likely get a better idea of what to expect when the EQS sedan is introduced next year.

Lamborghini and Lady Gaga have teamed up for charitable work that supports those who have been affected by the global pandemic by raising funds and awareness for different organizations.

Those participating in the sweepstake that runs from November 5 to December 16 on the Omaze platform will have the chance to win the Huracan EVO RWD that was used in the latest music video of the American singer, songwriter and actress.

Funds will benefit Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation that promotes the wellness of young people and the Together Rising organization, which connects patrons with the organizations addressing those in need across the United States.

Unveiled at the beginning of the year, the Huracan EVO RWD is the spiritual successor of the Gallardo LP 550-2. The rear-wheel drive Italian supercar packs the naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine powering the entire Huracan range, which has been de-tuned to 602 HP (610 PS / 449 kW) and 413 lb-ft (560 Nm) of torque and works in conjunction with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with launch control.

Unlike its all-wheel drive sibling, which has 631 HP (640 PS / 471 kW) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) and does the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 2.9 seconds, the Huracan EVO RWD needs 3.3 seconds. Both variants of the supercar run out of breath at 202 mph (325 km/h).

The Huracan EVO RWD has a starting price of $208,571 in the United States and £137,000 (equal to $182,876) in the UK.

For a multi-million dollar limited-production hypercar, the Bugatti Chiron has sure been struck by quite a few recalls recently, including one due to the faulty stability control system that also affects the Chiron Sport and Divo.

The Chiron Sport hasn’t been included in the latest safety recall conducted in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), but the ‘regular’ Chiron and the Divo have, as both models were made with potentially faulty driveshafts.

Review: Bugatti Divo Is Faster Than The Chiron, Yet As Easy To Drive As A Golf

The recall affects only 4 cars, with a 4 percent estimated defect rate). The Chiron was made on July 24 and the Divos between August 21 and October 23, 2020. The problem is blamed on the supplier, Germany’s CP Tech GmbH, as “the material strength of the rear-left drive shaft is found to not be within the acceptable specification tolerance”.

Under “certain hard-driving conditions”, the driveshaft could fail without any prior warning, and if it breaks, then some parts could detach from the car, which would pose a road hazard to vehicles and/or pedestrians. If the component fails, then the gearbox and engine lights will flicker in the instrument cluster, and the Bugatti will enter the so-called ‘Limp Mode’.

Bugatti will replace all defective driveshafts with new ones and will cover the repair and logistics costs. The planned dealer and owner notification for this recall was November 30, and those who have not heard from Bugatti can contact them at 1-703-826-7545 using the recall number BUGCR032.
